4. The Pontoon Bridge (engineer A. Agthe). Its construction was completed in 1896. Until then the socalled Raft Bridge built for the first time in 1714 was spanning the Daugava at this site. At night the Pontoon Bridge was illuminated with special kerosene lanterns.
