Erythroculter mongolicis.
1. Inhabits the Amu-Darya and Syr-Darya rivers. Male slimmer than female with high dorsal fin. Detritophagous. Sexually mature at 1.5 to 2 years. Spawning seasonal, in single pairs. A batch of eggs up to 4,000 is laid on water vegetation. Incubation period
3 days. Starting food: microplankton. Longevity, 4 to 5 years.
2. Inhabits the Amur River, waters of China, Mongolia and Japan. Males have more scales on lateral line and more rays in anal fin. Zoophagous. Sexually matures at 4 years. Spawning seasonal. Fecundity 15,000 to 100,000 adhesive eggs (d—1.6 mm). 6 to 8 days later the young start feeding actively at 18° C; when juveniles reach 8 cm in size, they are carnivores. Close species: E. erythropterus—:p to 102 cm and E. oxycephalus— up to 42 cm. Longevity, 8 to 10 years.
Care: dH to 20°, pH 6.8-7.5, temperature, 10 to 30° C, aeration, filtration, replacement of water.
