9. Labeo frenatus.
L. bicolor.
Inhabit waters of Thailand. Males brighter and slimmer, dorsal fin elogated. Females possess bulky belly and swell defined oviduct. Food: paste-powder combined foods, plankton, detritus, periphyton, etc. Sexuaily mature at 2 years. Spawning seasonal (2 times a year), in schools (2-3 males per 1 female). Tank dimensions: 150x60x60 cm. Mormonal stimuiation with hypophysis (1-2 mg per specimen) with addition of gonadotropin (100 IU) and monomicynum is often used. 'The water should be refreshed
and running (1,500 l/hour. Fecundity 3,000 to 15,000 eggs (d—1.5 mm). Pelagophil. Incubation period 12 to 14 hours, 12 to 16 hours later the young start swimming and feeding on rotifers, ctc. Care: dH to 15°, pH 6.8-7.5, at 24 to 30° C, etc. Close species: L. erythrurus— 12 cm (Thailand) and L. variegatus—30 cm (the Congo). Longevity, 8 to 12 years.
