Chromidotilapia kingsleyae (Kingslcy’s Chromidotilapia) inhabits waters of Gabon. Kept in the USSR by aquarists since 1976. The male is yellowish-brown, a red edging passes through the middle of gill covers and the edges of the fins. The female is smaller, with golden edging on the dorsal fin and a crimson belly. Length, 8 to 16 cm. Omnivorous species. Sexually mature at 10 to 12 months. Spawning in pairs. Fecundity up to 100 eggs. Both male and female incubate the eggs in the buccal cavity. Incubation period 12 to 14 days. Feeding commences with small plankton. The young are light-brown with longitudinal stripes. Water conditions: dGH to 15°, pH 6.8—7.8, temperatures 22 to 26° C, aeration, filtration. Hybridization possible with Ch. giientheri.
