Iodotropheus sprengerae (Jodotropheus) inhabits Lake Malawi. Kept in the USSR by aquarists since 1977. The male is brownish-violet, the head and the upper part of the dorsum are orange. The female is smaller, brown mainly, dorsal and anal fins rounded. Length, 6 to 10 cm. Food: 20% vegetable and 80% animal. Sexually mature at 9 to 11 months. Spawning in pairs. Fe-
cundity up to 50 eggs. Incubation period 17 to 21 days. Feeding commences with small plankton. The young are red-brownish. Water conditions are as for Lake Malawi Cichlids.
