Pseudotropheus livingstonii (Livingston’s Pseudotropheus) inhabits Lake Malawi. Kept in the USSR by aquarists since 1978. The male is greyish-yellow with dark vertical bars on the body. Gill covers and lips are sky-blue. The female is smaller and less colourful. Length, 7 to 12 cm. Food: vegetable and animal in equal correlation. Sexually mature at 10 to 12 months. Spawning
in pairs. Fecundity up to 110 eggs. Incubation period 17 to 21 days. Feeding commences with small plankton. The young are greybrownish with dark hatching. Water conditions are the same as for Lake Malawi Cichlids. Hybridization possible with Ps. lanisticola.
