FOLK COSTUME OF THE DZUKAI WOMEN
The blouse of thin white linen is gathered at the neck. The collar with rounded ends is crocheted round with white thread.
The skirt of chequered stuff with emphasized transverse stripes is gathered.
The bodice ("kiklikas") is made of simple cloth with transverse stripes the groundwork of which is in plain weave and the stripes in twill weave or satin weave. The bodice has a large lapel in front, and is fastened with buttons On one side. To the waist are pieced rounded skirts bordered with a woven band along the edge.
The apron is decorative. Its ground is devided by colourful transverse stripes. The stripes consist of coloured bands and small white checks. Between them are placed coloured stars combined into rosaces.
The head-dress consists of a patterned band of tissue the upper edge of which is adorned with small pleats of drawn-thread silk. Two ribbons are fastened at the back.
The waist is girdled with a coloured woven belt.
The shawl is light-coloured, made of linen with a coloured pattern called in Lithuanian "rinktinis raštas".
