Troksnu (Noise) Street. To the left — Zviedru Varti (the Swedish Gate) built in the city’s fortification wall in 1698. In the centre — Pulvertornis (the Powder Tower). It was built early in the 14th century and is the only one of the 28 Riga’s guard towers (till 1330) which several times rebuilt has been preserved up to the present day. Its extension in pseudo-Gothic style facing Old Riga was built in 1892 (architect H. Hilbig). Pulvertornis acquired its present appearance after reconstruction in 1937—1938. Since 1957 it houses the Latvian SSR Revolution Museum.
